Google Drive is no less popular than Dropbox. With
all the same options, it lets users store up to 15GB of files with a free account. If it’s
not enough for you, choose a 100GB plan for $1.99 per month or a 1TB plan for $9.99 per month. Apart from
the file storing, Google Drive makes it possible to create Excel, Word and
PowerPoint documents online, edit them and keep for as long as you wish. The
service has free mobile apps, so you can keep all the necessary stuff always
with you. You don’t have to create a separate account to use Google Drive, it
is accessed with your Gmail account.
WHAT’S MICROSOFT ACCOUNT ID?
Microsoft decided to
facilitate access to its services and create one entrance key for all of them,
so you can use one login and password everywhere. Previously, there were:
Windows Live ID, Hotmail ID, SkyDrive ID, Office 365 ID, Windows Phone ID, Xbox
Live ID, now there’s only one ID called “Microsoft Account ID”. This ID you
should use to sign into any Microsoft service. If you already have one of these
IDs you don’t need to create a new Microsoft Account ID, just use the current
ID in Windows 10, 8, and 8.1.
When
you install Windows 10 onto your PC, you have 2 options: create an offline
Microsoft account for one device or an online live Microsoft account for many
Windows gadgets. We recommend making an online account via www.live.com, so you
can connect all your Windows devices (for example, phone, Xbox, computers,
tablets, bands) to one account.
HOW TO
CREATE A MICROSOFT ACCOUNT?
Step 1. Go directly to
www.live.com and click the link at the bottom of the sign-in form.
Step 2. Use your current email
address like: Gmail, Yahoo, Verizon, Cox, and file out the form:
Note: you’ll use this email address and password even to login in to
Outlook.com (Hotmail). Make sure that this email works because you need to
click a verification link.
Step 3. Alternatively, select the
second option at live.com and create a new email especially for Microsoft
account. Then, you’ll have to complete a longer form.
There is one more way to
register Microsoft ID. Go through these steps upon Windows 10/8/8.1
installation or upgrade from Windows 7. The installation wizard will guide
through the whole process which is similar to the described above.
HOW TO UPDATE INFO
OF YOUR MICROSOFT ACCOUNT ID?
If you plan to use your
existing Windows Live, OneDrive (SkyDrive) or Xbox ID as your pass, you can
always refresh the info about you. Surely, you can cancel any existing account
and sign up for a new Microsoft account ID at any time.
In order to update the
Microsoft Account info:
1. Log-in to Live/Outlook
account.
2. Click on your name in
the upper right corner.
3. Select the Account
settings or Edit profile link.
Here you will be
able to update: personal info, password, change profile picture, attach your
cell phone number and second email for security purposes, adjust alert
settings, permissions, billing data, etc.
HOW TO ADD A PAYMENT
METHOD (CREDIT CARD, PAYPAL) TO MICROSOFT ACCOUNT?
You can always create a
Microsoft account without a credit card. Adding a credit card is NOT
obligatory. But if you plan to purchase software at Windows Store or games for
Xbox, you should add a billing method to your account (a credit card or
PayPal). Don’t forget that your Microsoft account is the best place to
check all your Microsoft Office license subscriptions and Skype calls or Xbox
purchase history, so make a secure password for it.
1. Go to the Account
settings tab as
shown above.
2. Click the Billing tab and check your email for the
confirmation code.
3. Enter the received
confirmation code.
4. Open Payment
Options tab and
click the Add
a payment method button.
5. Enter your info and save
changes.
